Peter L. Miller

Peter L. Miller is a founder and managing partner of Dark Horse Capital Partners, LLC. Within the context of its real estate developments, Mr. Miller particularly focuses on fostering collaboration with public entities and on community relations and marketing. He is a manager of 640 Boston Avenue LLC; he has been intimately involved with every phase of the development of Sphere Luxury Apartments.

Mr. Miller is, as well, a principal and director of The Castle Group (Castle), public relations, social media and event management agency in Boston. Notwithstanding Peter’s ownership interest, Castle is a certified women owned business and is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2016. Castle was recognized by the Boston Business Journal in 2016 as on of the ‘best place to work’ in Boston.

Prior to Dark Horse, Mr. Miller was president of PLM Ventures LLC. During this time Mr. Miller successfully developed the historic Durrell School on Beacon Street in the City of Somerville, MA. Into 7 luxury condominiums.

As co-founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Massachusetts Communications College (Mass Comm) from 1988 to 2000, Mr. Miller led this private college on a strategic path of institutional development that yielded new programs and dramatic increases in enrollment and revenue. Mr. Miller then negotiated the sale of Mass Comm to Education Management Corporation (NASDAQ, EDMC.)

Prior to Mass Comm, Mr. Miller managed significant public affairs campaigns for private and public entities. Peter Miller has been active on corporate boards has been involved in local, state and federal government and politics. Notably, he served over 15 years as chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals in the City of Somerville, MA and he was president of Oakley Country Club (founded 1898) from 2013 to 2015.

Mr. Miller was a National Defense Fellow at Harvard University and he holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Antioch College, Yellow Springs, Ohio.

FRANCIS L. SHEA III

Francis (Biff) Shea is a founding partner of Dark Horse Capital Partners LLC. where he is focused on all facets of developing sustainable, transit oriented real estate.

Previously, Mr. Shea co-founded and served as the President of the The Frontier Groups, Inc. and later founded and served as Chief Executive Officer of Flagship Healthcare, Inc. Both investor-owned companies were regional “roll-up” ventures in the post-acute healthcare sector that is comprised of Skilled Nursing Facilities, Home Healthcare, Rehabilitation, Pharmacy and other Ancillary services. From 1992 to 2001, Mr. Shea purchased over 40 companies worth over $175 million.

In 1999, Shea received The Cutting Edge Award from the Florida Chamber of Commerce for Entrepeneurship and was voted one of the top thirty healthcare professionals in Florida by the Florida Medical Business Journal.

Prior to founding Frontier, Mr. Shea served as a senior executive at the Mediplex Group Inc. in charge of new project development and acquisitions. During that time Mr. Shea was responsible for development valued in excess of $100 million dollars.

Mr. Shea played four years of varsity division I hockey and baseball at The United States Military Academy at West Point and he has remained active in hockey at the youth and amateur levels: he has coached for over 15 years.

Mr. Shea holds a Master of Science in Administration and a Master of Business Administration degree from Saint Michaels College as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Military Academy. Mr. Shea is a Licensed Professional Engineer and a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Mr. Shea is an Army veteran.
